PRESS RELEASE
Munich / Paris, 29 January 2026
One year after launching their technology partnership, GrandPalaisRmnPhoto - the photo agency representing the association of French national museums and the GrandPalais Paris, and Munich-based picturemaxx AG are pleased to report positive results. Their intensive collaboration covers the digital media asset management system (DAM) and the new website for the photo collection.
A central DAM system for 1.5 million images
The DAM system developed by picturemaxx went live at GrandPalaisRmnPhoto a year ago and has since served as the core platform to manage, archive, and distribute over 1.5 million media assets from the French national museums. Around 20,000 new media files are added each year. Tailored to the specific requirements of the museums and their collections, the system has be-come the backbone of the agency's daily workflows.
A large-scale digital transformation
The decision to implement the picturemaxx DAM and workflow system was made through
a public tender. The solution stood out for its stability and scalability, its flexibility in integrating partner connections and third-party systems, and its renowned international references.
Today, all steps from order processing to contract management and from media publishing to financial administration are integrated within the picturemaxx system and secured through a multi-dimensional access and rights management system.
Since the launch of the DAM system and the photo.grandpalaisrmn.fr website, over 80 GrandPal-aisRmnPhoto employees have relied on the picturemaxx solution every day. The teams benefit from a unified, secure, and partially automated working environment.
Seamless processes and clear added value for all user groups
One year after go live, the results are clearly measurable: complete migration of legacy systems, full centralization of data, modernization of internal processes, and a significant improvement in operational performance.
“Given the scale of the project, the established structures, and the well-known high quality and service standards at GrandPalaisRmnPhoto, this implementation was challenging for everyone involved,” shares François Grolleau, Director of Photography at GrandPalaisRmnPhoto.
“But thanks to the strong commitment and close cooperation with picturemaxx, we were able to estab-lish modern workflows at GrandPalaisRmnPhoto. We are now significantly more digital and can respond to customer inquiries much faster. Our daily image production has also become far more transparent and easier to organize.”
Max Wieberneit, CEO of picturemaxx, sums it up as follows: "A project of this magnitude allows us to demonstrate the capabilities of the picturemaxx software and fully leverage the advantages of the integrated DAM system. The close collaboration with GrandPalaisRmnPhoto not only ensured a successful implementation but also accelerated the development of the new project manage-ment module, which will strengthen the organizational efficiency of the teams in the long term."
A partnership with a long-term vision
Both partners are committed to continuing and expanding their cooperation. In the coming months, the focus will be on continuously optimizing the tools, enhancing the user experience, and support-ing the future digital development of GrandPalaisRmnPhoto.
