  History of Ostkreuz - Agentur der Fotografen

In 1990, the year of German reunification, seven photographers founded OSTKREUZ. Their name is derived from the Berlin S-Bahn station Ostkreuz, which connects the east of Berlin with the rest of the city. From this location, the founding members wanted to set off with their cameras in all directions to document international events - and at the same time maintain a strong connection to their homeland. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, OSTKREUZ expanded both its focus and its geographical area of activity. The photographers have remained true to their guiding principle to this day: they work on artistic projects with a social focus, stay committed to the authorship principle, document current developments—and take a clear stance in the process.
